Don’t Be Afraid To Ask
Whether you are new to working at home or you have been doing it for quite some time, never be afraid to ask for help with your business. Just know who to ask. Know who you can trust for the right answers as well as who you can trust not to steer you in the wrong direction purposely.
Most of the time in the work at home world, people, even competitors, are willing to assist other WAHs. There are forums, message boards and face to face meetings where you can seek and provide assistance and support.
For example, on eBay, there are Groups, Discussion Boards, Chat Rooms and other areas of the eBay Community for assistance for both newbies and regulars. Very often regulars will reach out to help newbies.
You do have to be careful about the trust issue though. Be sure to lurk (read without posting) for a while to get a feel for the group, forum, etc. Check to see if the information being provided is accurate. See if the people receiving help return and say they are seeing some improvement with their business. Check on the people providing the assistance. Read their blogs, feedback, profiles, whatever information you can find about them online.
If you are attending in person meetings, network a bit first but do the same type of thing. Sit back and listen. See what you can learn from the other people’s business practices.
I have been a member of the eBay community, blogging forums and other message boards for years. I have never had any problem with anyone who gave me advice. I’ve always tried to return the favor if not to that person then to another and let them know that I paid it forward.
I have seen very successful people who go out of their way to help others be hurt though. This didn’t stop them from giving though. They fought back but continued to have that attitude of giving back to others.
One particular person that has done this and continues to do so is Danna, The Power Selling Mom. Her number one motto is: “There is plenty of eBay for us ALL to be Blessed and Prosper” She is an example of the people that you come across and are grateful that you’ve met for a long time.
Don’t be afraid to seek help. Just be careful and do your homework.
