Work At Home Scams
May 21st, 2008 by Connie
With so many people jumping on the Work At Home bandwagon there’s bound to be scams. When you are searching for work it is important to remember the old adage that if it’s it too good to be true, it probably is.
Some ways to avoid scams or fraud:
- Don’t pay to work. There are some exceptions to this, but very few. If you are going to put any money out, research the company.
- Don’t feel forced to make a decision about accepting a job offer or signing on to work for a company. If you are offered a position then you should be allowed at least a day or two to decide.
- Ther’es no such thing as little work and lots of money.
- Avoid Multi-Level Marketing. You make money by recruiting other people not by selling products.
- Research any company you work for through the Better Business Bureau. They now have an online section.
- If you accept work from someone online, for example writing a blog post or making a logo, get a deposit before beginning the work.
- For the above, a contract can be useful even if it is done through email. Be sure to save the emails and any work you have done.
- Get to know other people who work at home in your same field. You can share information, job leads and ask advice about work requests.
There are legitimate work at home positions. It takes time and effort to find one. The most important thing is to make use of your research abilities. If you find that you are avoiding a scam, you may come across the real deal.
